Klein Fires Open Round of 69

Emilee Klein of Studio City fired a two-under 69 Saturday in the third round of the U.S. Women’s Open at the Indianwood Golf & Country Club in Lake Orion, Mich.
Klein, the NCAA Division I individual champion last season at Arizona State, is the low amateur in the event and is tied for 13th with four players at even-par 213.
Klein, a Notre Dame High graduate, trails leader Patty Sheehan by seven shots entering today’s final round.
Klein is outpacing several pro standouts, including Beth Daniel (214), Dottie Mochrie, Meg Mallon and Amy Alcott (215), Juli Inkster (216) and Nancy Lopez (217).
