COLD WAR RELIC: The folks at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library are expecting a hot shipment today--a nuclear missile. . . . Once deployed in Europe in 1983 during Reagan’s defense buildup, the ground-based cruise missile was removed after Reagan signed the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty in 1988 with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. . . . The 22-foot-long missile will become part of the library’s permanent exhibit. Said spokeswoman Linda Schuler: “It has been stripped of its warhead, obviously, and has had its guidance systems removed.”

DUAL ROLE: Usually, it’s not hard to pick sides in a lawsuit when you’re named as a defendant. But county supervisors find themselves supporting those who are suing them. . . . In a case that resumes today in Superior Court, the supervisors are being sued by Ojai and Ventura to knock the Weldon Canyon landfill initiative off the November ballot. A majority of supervisors put the measure on the ballot to force such a lawsuit. In court papers, they side with their opponents, calling the initiative “a fraud on the voters.”
