Police Find Movie Prop, Not Bomb

SUN VALLEY — The Los Angeles Police Department’s Bomb Squad was called out to a salvage lot to investigate a possible bomb Saturday only to find a movie prop, authorities said.
At noon, an employee of Pick Your Parts salvage yard in the 11200 block of Pendleton Street reported that a pipe bomb was found in an abandoned car on the lot. The bomb squad was notified and hundreds of customers were evacuated from the five-acre lot with the help of a police helicopter, police said.
After two hours of examining the two bricks marked C-4, the bomb squad “determined them to be movie props,” said Sgt. Joe Flores of LAPD’s Foothill Division.
