SANTA ANA — A 3-year-old boy was in critical condition Tuesday night after a mini-van struck him and his two siblings as they crossed a street with their mother, police said.
Leticia Leos, 34, was crossing 1st Street near Oak Street with her three children about 5:54 p.m. when a westbound vehicle hit the youngsters, said Sgt. Don Robertson of the Santa Ana Police Department. The mother, who was not injured, and her children were apparently not in a crosswalk, police said.
The 3-year-old boy suffered a broken collarbone and head injuries and was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
His 3-year-old sister and a 4-month-old brother, who was in a stroller, received minor injuries, police said.
Police questioned the driver and released him. He was not cited.
