John Pierre-Masson has been named boys’ soccer coach and Mark Zulauf girls’ tennis coach at La Quinta, Athletic Director Jim Perry announced Tuesday.
Masson takes over for Craig Cummings, rejoining La Quinta after a four-year layoff. Masson guided the Aztecs from 1982-90 and they were the Southern Section Division 2-A co-champion in 1983, tying Bishop Montgomery, 1-1, in the title game.
Zulauf replaces Arnold Truong, who stepped down for personnel reasons. Truong headed the team for three years, winning two league championships and making three playoff appearances.
Zulauf was La Quinta’s badminton coach in 1991 and is a math teacher at the school.
