SAN PEDRO : L.A. Supt. Thompson to Address Maritime Dept.

Los Angeles Unified School District Supt. Sid Thompson will address a Maritime Trades Department lunch Wednesday.
The labor group chose Thompson as a speaker because of his experience in the merchant marine. He also is an alumnus of the King’s Point Maritime Academy in New York, which many members of the department are affiliated with, said Dennis H. Lundy, president of the department’s Southern California Ports Council.
The lunch will be at the Sheraton San Pedro Hotel, 601 S. Palos Verdes St., at 11:45 a.m. Tickets are $20. Information: (310) 518-3776.
