FAST FACT
The Pirates have lost 11 consecutive games and have won only eight games in the past four seasons.
OUTLOOK
Rosales will dump the run-and-shoot and try to revive the offense with a more conventional formation that will feature two wide receivers, two running backs and a tight end. The overhaul will give several outstanding freshmen an opportunity to start but perhaps not at quarterback. Fausset, a left-hander who played briefly at Santa Barbara City College in 1992, has earned that job, Rosales said. Hill, a WSC second-team pick and the team’s leading rusher last season with 523 yards, returns and will run behind a line anchored by Probasco, Jeremy Davis and Bendinelli. “Last year was an aberration and it’s not indicative of how things are going to be around here,” Rosales said.
