Orange County High School Football PREP EXTRA : Rancho Alamitos’ Young Gains 254 Yards

GARDEN GROVE — Sparked by a 254-yard performance by senior Chris Young, Rancho Alamitos defeated Aliso Niguel, 36-12, at Bolsa Grande Stadium in Garden Grove.
Kevin Allen scored three times on runs of three, two, and 12 yards out and caught a 27-yard touchdown toss from John Frank.
Rancho Alamitos grabbed a 6-0 lead 1 minute 48 seconds into the second quarter on a three-yard run by Allen. The scoring drive took 2:50 and was aided by five-yard face mask and illegal participation penalties against Aliso Niguel.
Aliso Niguel answered on a Scott Nemeth-to-Deangelo Gossett 44-yard completion with 1:26 left in the first half.
With one second left in the half, Rancho Alamitos took a 15-6 lead on a 27-yard pass from Frank to Allen and the two-point conversion pass from Aaron Trigg to Jeff Turbarg. Allen also caught a pass for 39 yards on the drive. The drive took eight seconds and two plays and began with Tom Navarro’s interception of Nemeth.
Rancho Alamitos’ offense dominated the second half scoring three touchdowns.
The only other Aliso Niguel score came on a six-yard Nemeth throw to Joe Valenti.
