Favata to Coach at Woodbridge

Sam Favata, a former Cal State Fullerton baseball player, was hired Wednesday as Woodbridge’s baseball coach.
Favata, who played in the Milwaukee Brewers’ organization, replaces Vince Brown, who left after two seasons with the Warriors.
Favata was the head coach at Edgewood (now West Covina) High School four years, from 1985-88, where he won three league championships and finished with a 76-29 record.
“I missed coaching after my four years at Edgewood,” Favata said. “I was looking for the right opportunity to get back into a team situation.”
Favata, who played second base, worked recently as director of the “Better Baseball 4 Kids” Clinic and was an instructor at local hitting and base-running clinics.
Brown led the Warriors to a Sea View League title in 1993 and a fourth-place finish in 1994.
