THOUSAND OAKS : Officials Say Missing Girl May Be Runaway
- Share via
A search for a Thousand Oaks girl who never returned from a Sunday hike was called off early Tuesday after sheriff’s deputies decided she might be a runaway, authorities said.
The search that began Monday night for Lannea Diederichs, 15, in Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks turned up no evidence of foul play and was called off about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Paige said.
Diederichs’ father told deputies that his daughter, who had gone hiking in the 1,700-acre park Sunday, has run away from home before, and had subsequently attended at least one concert by the Grateful Dead rock group.
The search involved a helicopter and 15 volunteers of the east county search and rescue team.
