Bishop Diego Gets Past Nordhoff

OJAI — Josh Hawkins of Nordhoff High rushed for 148 yards and scored three touchdowns, but Bishop Diego defeated the Rangers, 33-32, in a nonleague game Friday night at Nordhoff.

The game included seven lead changes and was up for grabs until the final minute.

Gabriel Sanchez of Bishop Diego (2-3) scored the winning touchdown on a 26-yard run with 2:58 left. He also scored on a 95-yard kickoff return to open the second half.

Hawkins scored on runs of two and 60 yards and a 40-yard pass play for Nordhoff (3-2). Ranger quarterback Mike Gardia completed nine of 10 passes in the first half, but only three of 11 in the second.
