Countywide : Labor Council Backs Airport Proposal
- Share via
The Orange County Central Labor Council submitted a letter to Measure A proponents Friday, announcing its support of the initiative to build a commercial airport at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
The air base is scheduled to close in 1999.
In June, the council’s executive board voted unanimously to back the initiative, said council spokesman William Fogarty.
“We think it’s going to be good for creating jobs and job retention in Orange County,” he said.
The council is an umbrella organization representing about 95,000 Southland laborers.
