ROUNDUP : Agoura Moves Closer to a Volleyball Title

The Agoura High girls’ volleyball team solidified its hold on first place in the tough Marmonte League with a 15-11, 15-5, 9-15, 15-3 victory Thursday over Thousand Oaks at Agoura.
Maegan Thomas had 23 kills and Blair Thomas 18 kills to lead Agoura (12-2, 11-1 in league play), which maintained its one-game lead over second-place Newbury Park with two matches to play. Thousand Oaks dropped to 9-5, 8-4.
Newbury Park d. Royal, 15-12, 15-11, 12-15, 6-15, 10-15--Julie Wastell had 16 kills to lead Newbury Park (12-2, 10-2) in a Marmonte League match at Newbury Park.
Royal dropped to 9-7, 7-5.
L.A. Baptist d. Marshall Fundamental, 15-0, 15-3, 15-4--Darcie Frazier had 11 kills and Trunde Hrotko had 20 assists and four service aces as host L.A. Baptist cinched its second Alpha League title in three years.
El Camino Real d. Birmingham, 15-12, 15-13, 15-11--Gretchen Vandenburg had 20 kills for visiting El Camino Real in the Northwest Valley Conference match.
Bell-Jeff d. Pius X, 15-4, 15-6, 15-1--Lauren Barrett had 11 kills and Stephanie Nocum had 28 assists for host Bell-Jeff (14-2, 8-0) in the Camino Real League match.
Village Christian d. Western Christian, 15-6, 13-15, 15-7, 15-10--Lindy James had 17 kills and seven aces to lead the Crusaders (9-5, 4-2) in an Alpha League match at Western Christian.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Burroughs 19 2/3, Saugus 1 1/3--Aphrodite Papanikolaou, Natalia Zielkiewicz and Melissa Holzedl each swept their singles matches to help visiting Burroughs clinch the Foothill League title.
