Chinese Market Opportunities: Largo Vista is not alone in sensing real estate opportunities in China. Because of recent land reforms, a private housing market could develop there during the next 10 years, providing tremendous opportunity to California home builders and lenders, according to a report released Tuesday by Kenneth Leventhal & Co., the Newport Beach accounting firm.
The study, “China--Opportunities for Developers in an Emerging Real Estate Market,” also finds that a severe shortage of commercial space in China’s largest cities has triggered a boom in construction. During the next two years, the supply of office space in these cities could double or triple. Interested foreign developers need to find Chinese partners “who have good connection with government agencies and local businesses,” according to the study’s author Stan Ross, a managing partner with the firm.
