OUTLOOK
Newman, an assistant coach with the Orange football team, is one of three first-year coaches in the Century League and he’ll be teaching a new system his team will have to pick up quickly to keep pace with the rest of the league. The Panthers return four starters from last season’s team which won one league game. Their main strength should be experience, boasting a roster of six seniors and four juniors. Center Conley and forward Brown will be expected to lead. Conley shot 40% from the field last season and averaged seven rebounds. She is going to face some tough centers in the league, including Stacey Fish of Canyon and Mary Jo Pennington of Villa Park. Conley is going to have work hard to improve her rebounding average. Huber will start at point guard. The Panthers’ other strength is a deep bench, including the return of Stene, Ngayan and Kaufman.
