El Toro Tournament Is Season’s First Big Wrestling Event

The El Toro 10-Way Tournament, the first major wrestling competition of the season, begins at 3 p.m. today at El Toro High.
The first half of the tournament includes the No. 2 team in the county, Santa Ana, fifth-ranked Irvine, Apple Valley, Long Beach Wilson, Santa Ana Valley, San Diego Montgomery, Edison, Oceanside, Valencia and El Toro.
Participants in the second half of the tournament, which starts at 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at El Toro High, include third-ranked Laguna Hills, sixth-ranked Anaheim, seventh-ranked San Clemente, Oxnard Channel Islands, Newport Harbor, Downey Calvary Chapel, Sierra Vista, University, Buena Park and El Toro. Friday’s competition concludes Saturday.
Other weekend tournaments set to begin include the El Dorado Invitational, which starts at 3 p.m. today at El Dorado High, and the Trabuco Hills six-way at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trabuco Hills High.
