California Amplifier Sees 3rd-Quarter Profits Jump

California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo-based maker of components used to receive television signals, reported a sharp increase in profit for its third quarter, which ended Nov. 26.
The company posted net income of $714,000, up 28% from $558,000 in the same three-month period a year earlier. Sales increased by 3% to $11.7 million, compared to $11.4 million a year earlier.
For its nine-month period, the company reported profit of $1.67 million on sales of $34.2 million, compared to a year-earlier profit of $1.64 million on revenue of $30.1 million.
California Amplifier attributed its improved results to surging sales of its wireless cable television products, which include antennas and other components used to receive and convert microwave television signals. Sales of wireless cable products totaled $5.59 million in the third quarter, up 19% from a year earlier.
