A 75-year-old man was killed Thursday while walking across Western Avenue, police said.
Juan Garcia of Buena Park was crossing near the Melrose Street intersection at 6:45 p.m. when he was struck by a car traveling northbound, according to Lt. Mike Schwartz. There was no traffic signal or crosswalk at the intersection and, although there were street lights, it was “fairly dark” and Garcia was wearing dark clothing, Schwartz said.
The driver of the car, a 78-year-old Seal Beach man, was not injured or cited, but police said the investigation into the accident is continuing.
