Noel Pointer; Contemporary Jazz Violinist and Composer

Noel Pointer, 40, contemporary jazz violinist and composer twice nominated for Grammy awards. Pointer made his solo debut at age 13 as a classical violinist performing with the Symphony of the New World Orchestra in New York. He also appeared with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony. Pointer also worked with theater orchestras, including those at the Apollo Theatre and Radio City Music Hall. He recorded seven solo albums, and two--”All My Reasons” and “Direct Hit”--were nominated for Grammys. Another album, “Phantazia,” went platinum. On Tuesday in New York City of a stroke.
