East Los Angeles College mounted a late rally to beat Cypress, 74-70, to win the consolation championship of the College of the Canyons Tournament.
Trailing, 70-64, with two minutes left Thursday night, the Huskies tied the score when Alden Barnett and Alfred Durazo hit consecutive three-point shots.
On ELAC’s next possession, Durazo made a free throw to put the Huskies ahead. Cypress was then hit with a technical foul for trying to call a timeout after the Chargers had reached their limit.
Paul Celaya made two free throws and Dale Clark added another for the final score.
Durazo led the Huskies with 20 points.
ELAC lost by 32 points to Cypress in the Riverside Tournament Dec. 6.
