Kristin Dunn of Cal State Northridge, third in the women’s javelin in the NCAA championships in June, has been ranked ninth in the nation by Track & Field News for the 1994 season.
Dunn, a 5-foot-11 senior from Mission Viejo High, improved her personal best to 174 feet 9 inches last year.
She ranks second on the all-time Matador list behind Connie Gassen, who set the Northridge record of 176-3 in 1977.
In other news, Jocelyn Chase of Agoura High is ranked fourth nationally in the women’s pole vault, an event that is in its infant stages.
Chase raised her personal best to 10-6 as a junior.
