COLLEGE FOOTBALL: THE BOWL GAMES : Nebraska Is Champion, Coaches Say

Nebraska earned at least half a national championship Monday evening when it finished ahead of unbeaten Penn State atop the USA Today/CNN coaches’ poll.
The first national title for Coach Tom Osborne came after the Cornhuskers (13-0) defeated Miami in the Orange Bowl Sunday. Colorado was No. 3, Alabama No. 4 and Florida State No. 5.
The Associated Press media poll will be released today.
