Marina, two-time defending Southern Section Division I girls’ soccer champion, again is the top-seeded team but could face a tough first-round test.
Capistrano Valley, the Vikings’ opponent, was ranked No. 6 in the division last week, but finished third in the South Coast League. Marina (17-0-1), which has a 57-game unbeaten streak, will play host to the first-round game Saturday. Capistrano Valley is 16-8-2.
Santa Margarita (20-4-2), the fourth-seeded team in the division, plays host to the winner of Wednesday’s wild-card game between Glendora St. Lucy’s and Santa Monica. Marina and Santa Margarita, ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in Orange County, could meet in the semifinals.
In Division II, Ocean View (19-1-2) is the second-seeded team and will play host to Long Beach Poly (14-4-4) in the first round. No. 3-seeded El Modena (18-5-1) plays host to Lakewood St. Joseph (12-6-1).
None of the seeded teams in Divisions III or IV are from Orange County.
