Costa Mesa’s Venegas Wins Speedway Race

COSTA MESA — Charlie Venegas of San Bernardino won the four-lap scratch main event in front of 3,257 in the weekly speedway motorcycle program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa was second, Shawn McConnell of Brea third and Gary Ackroyd of Newport Beach fourth.

Jerry Black of San Bernardino won the eight-lap handicap main event. Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano was second, Jessee Finch of Garden Grove was third, Venegas was fourth and Schwartz was fifth.
