Prices for Imported Goods Soar: The amounts U.S. businesses pay increased 1.2% for April, reflecting a surge in oil prices and the falling value of the dollar against other major currencies. April’s overall increase is the largest since October, 1990, when the Persian Gulf crisis sent oil prices higher, a Labor Department spokesman said.
