Claus Resigns as the Boys’ Tennis Coach at Foothill

Dennis Claus, who coached the Foothill boys’ tennis team to the Southern Section Division II semifinals, has resigned his position, he said Tuesday.
“I got involved because my daughter and son both played varsity tennis,” said Claus, who was walk-on coach for the girls’ team from 1991-93 and the boys’ team since 1992. “I would have continued if I was a teacher, but I’m a real estate broker and I have to make a living. It’s just too much of a time commitment.”
Claus’ son, Rob, is a senior. He and partner Lance Stern were recently named the Century League’s most valuable doubles team.
The Knights lost to Palm Desert in Thursday’s semifinals, 13-5, to finish their season 21-2. Last season, Foothill was 20-2 and lost to University in the first round of the Division I playoffs.
