A 2-year-old girl who was not wearing a safety harness was injured Saturday in a traffic accident in Sun Valley and her 20-year-old mother was cited for failing to have the child properly restrained.
Stephanie Lopez Rodriguez was listed in fair condition at Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday night. She was airlifted to the hospital because she was knocked unconscious in the collision, a Los Angeles police spokesman said.
The mother, Yesenia Lopez Rodriguez, who is six months pregnant and suffered minor abdominal injuries, was treated at Pacifica Hospital in Sun Valley and released.
The car the girl and her mother were in was struck by another car about 12:15 p.m. in the 12000 block of Saticoy Street near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, the spokesman said. None of the occupants of the other car were injured.
