Alice Adams (AMC Tuesday at 3:45 a.m.) is George Stevens’ luminous 1935 adaptation of the Booth Tarkington Pultizer Prize winner. The film, about small-town Midwesterner Alice and her seemingly blighted “Cinderella” romance with the town’s golden boy, was a milestone for both Stevens and star Katharine Hepburn.
Praying With Anger (Showtime Monday at 3 p.m.) is M. Night Shyamalan’s beautiful 1993 debut film. He stars as a young American who reluctantly becomes an exchange student in India.
