Stanton Is Oblivious to His Failings

* Re: “Alleged Stanton Secrecy Breach Being Probed” (Aug. 11): Let’s hope that the arrogant [Supervisor Roger R.] Stanton can be replaced soon. His grandiose and pompous attitude is just infuriating. His incompetence and lack of leadership have inflicted great harm on the citizens of Orange County. Yet he appears totally oblivious to his failings. He seems to spend all his time polishing his image, finding others to blame and jockeying for power.
It was his failure to supervise that contributed to the bankruptcy. And he has failed to lead the county out of bankruptcy. He has done nothing constructive in this crisis and has even undermined the negotiations with Merrill Lynch. He must go!

* Supervisor Stanton threatens to sue William Popejoy for slander (Aug. 19). Ruin the reputation of an Orange County supervisor? He’d have to sue in small claims court!
