OUTLOOK
The Mustangs lost 15 starters and more than 3,500 yards of offense to graduation. Gone are Charles Chatman (2,500 yards, 29 touchdowns) and DeWayne Crenshaw (879 yards, 8.7 per carry). Also gone is Coach Myron Miller, now at Tustin after building Costa Mesa into a winner. His successor, Howell, has provided more offensive balance by installing a few more passing options; if Mokede (from a 9-1 JV team) or Taylor is successful, Costa Mesa could be dangerous. Linebacking and secondary play make the defense strong, and special teams will be even better.
