Trip Cancellation

Why do Sherry Stern, and many other travelers (with, or without, travel agents), expect bookings to be penalty-free? (“The Terminator: One Woman’s Struggle to Cancel Vacation Plans at the Last Minute,” July 16). The words bookings/reservations indicate time and expense spent by Ms. Stern and agencies, hotels and airlines. The words cancellations/refunds mean the same thing, i.e., time and expense. Ms. Stern, however, expects full refunds with no consideration or compensation for the various suppliers, who will not be paid for the time spent on the refunds nor for the original bookings! Looking forward to Ms. Stern’s next article: How to Struggle With Your Travel Insurance Claim.
