Winnetka : Truck Rams Police Car Stopped at Light

A pickup truck barreled into a police car that was stopped at a red light Monday, totaling the cruiser, police said. No one was seriously injured.
The truck was heading east on Vanowen Street about 10:30 a.m. when it hit the marked police car, stopped at the traffic signal at Mason Street, Sgt. Dan Carnahan said.
One officer, suffering neck pain, was taken to a local hospital to be examined, but his injuries were not serious, Carnahan said.
It was unknown why the truck’s driver didn’t stop.
“All he said is, ‘I hit him,’ ” Carnahan said.
The investigation into the crash is continuing, police said.
