The vote by NBA players to preserve their union became official when the dissident players declined to challenge the results of last week’s election.
The dissenting faction, which included Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing, will work within the system to change their union.

The Miami Heat named former Laker coach Randy Pfund executive vice president of player personnel, reuniting him with Pat Riley, the new coach and president of the Heat.
Pfund was an assistant coach under Riley with the Lakers.
