Oseola McCarty, 87, made the spotlight with President Clinton by donating her life savings of $150,000 to the University of Southern Mississippi for black scholarships. It was the money she earned from washing clothes. Clinton read about McCarty’s gift and told his staff he would like her to be his guest at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner.
