Kern Valley 17, Village Christian 14--James Paul kicked a 33-yard field goal with one second remaining to lift the Broncs (3-0) over the Crusaders (2-1) at Kennedy High.
Village Christian scored on an Aaron Funk one-yard run and a 22-yard pass from Mike Pike to Tony Yousif.
Pike completed five of 14 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Receiver Mike Santiago caught four passes for 62 yards.
