SOUTHERN SECTION ROUNDUP : Quartz Hill Pulls Out a Pass to Sneak Past Highland in Final: 54

Quartz Hill High’s Andy Rethi caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Brian Woodworth with 54 seconds remaining in the game, giving the Rebels a 20-14 victory against upset-minded Highland on Friday night in a Golden League game at Antelope Valley High.
Jeremiah Harris, the Golden League’s leading rusher, was held to 33 yards in a first half that saw Highland (3-4, 0-2) jump to a 14-7 lead by intermission. But Harris came alive in the second half, finishing the night with 125 yards in 28 carries.
Harris scored on a 30-yard run late in the third period, and Rethi added the kick to draw the Rebels (6-1, 2-0) even, 14-14.
The Quartz Hill defense limited Highland to just eight yards in the second half, after giving up 186 yards in the first half. Norris Theus, who scored on a 15-yard run in the first period, had 108 yards in 13 carries for the Bulldogs, including 99 yards in the first half.
