NEWPORT BEACH — Newport Harbor had six interceptions, returning two for touchdowns, and defeated Woodbridge, 45-14, in a Sea View League game Friday at Newport Harbor High.
After Woodbridge took a 7-0 lead on Mark Kerns’ six-yard run, Josh Amezola returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown to tie the score.
Chris Morrell then added a one-yard touchdown run, and the Sailors put the game away by scoring three touchdowns in less than two minutes.
Greg Wertman scored on a 15-yard pass from Josiah Fredriksen and Wertman then returned an interception 39 yards for another score. Cory Glass then jumped on a fumble in the end zone and Newport Harbor led, 38-7.
