BURBANK — Ted Iacenda tied a career record with five touchdowns--four rushing and one receiving--to lead Hart High past Burroughs, 40-10, in a Foothill League game Friday at Burroughs.
Iacenda, who scored on runs of 12, 11, 12 and one yard, had 116 yards in nine carries and added 92 yards in three receptions.
After Burroughs’ Ben Criscuolo kicked a 44-yard field goal on the game’s opening possession, Hart went ahead, 7-3, when Steve McKeon hit Cody Joyce on a 64-yard scoring pass play.
After Iacenda put Hart (7-2 overall, 3-0 in league play) up, 14-3, with a 12-yard run, he put the game out of reach on the night’s most-exciting play. Using the swinging-gate formation, Iacenda snapped the ball to McKeon who scrambled before hitting a wide-open Iacenda at Burroughs’ 15. Iacenda then bowled over two tacklers on his way to the end zone.
McKeon, who was 12 of 16 for 238 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 84 yards in six carries.
J.K. Scott was 10 of 30 for 110 yards and three interceptions for Burroughs (3-5-1, 0-3).
