HALF ASLEEP IN FROG PAJAMAS by Tom Robbins (Bantam: $10.95; 387 pp.). In his latest novel, Tom Robbins leaps from one unlikely topic to another: Timbuktu, Sirius, Tarot cards, the disappearance of Earth’s amphibians, yet it all feels curiously familiar. Fans will enjoy the eccentric turns of phrase that led a British critic to compare Robbins’ prose to Dolly Parton’s wardrobe.
