WOODLAND HILLS — Almost $300,000 worth of computer chips and printers were stolen from Data Products Corp. over the Christmas holiday, police said.
Someone apparently entered the firm’s offices at 6250 Canoga Ave. between 10:30 a.m. Sunday and 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and took $295,000 worth of computer chips and seven printers, said Det. Bob Hart of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division.
Hart said a commercial burglary of this amount is unusual.
Police said there was no forced entry. The store was nearly empty except for some scrap metal and the equipment because the company was moving to a new location in Simi Valley, Hart said.
Hart said that Jason Silver, a supervisor for Data Products, told police that a scrap metal company was given keys to the shop to clear out unwanted metal Dec. 24.
