Is Tarkanian Hall of Fame Material?

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The votes are in. And the second-guessing is about to begin as the Basketball Hall of Fame announces this year’s inductees today.
One of the most closely watched names to come out of the nominating committee is that of Jerry Tarkanian, who has the best winning percentage of any college coach in the history of the game and a long record of run-ins with the NCAA.
Tarkanian is one of five coaches, 14 players and one contributor considered by the Honors Committee. Election requires 14 votes from the 24-member committee.
Among the nominated players are Gail Goodrich, Jamaal Wilkes, George Gervin, David Thompson, Jo Jo White, Artis Gilmore and Dick Barnett.
