Rainbow Trout Are Extra Large
Anglers at three Southland reservoirs have been pulling in some monstrous rainbow trout.
At Santa Ana River Lakes, Irvine Lake and Corona Lake, 25 fish weighing 10 pounds or more were landed in the last week. The largest, a 17.2-pound rainbow caught at Santa Ana River Lakes, was fooled by a shiny Kastmaster lure fished by Fred Devile of Corona.
The three lakes are run by the same concessionaire, Outdoor Safaris International, which heavily stocks the lakes with trophy-sized trout raised at a Northern California fish farm.
