Salesman Arrested in Rape of Girl, 16

A Newport Beach car salesman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of raping an intoxicated 16-year-old girl, police said.
Edward Joseph Aruda, 36, was being held at the Newport Beach City Jail on $50,000 bail, Sgt. John Desmond said.
Detectives have teamed up with sexual assault investigators from the district attorney’s office to determine whether Aruda has previously assaulted the teen, he said.
The arrest came after the girl’s father contacted authorities about Aruda, a longtime acquaintance of his, police said.
