Baseball’s labor negotiations Thursday continued to produce a series of counter-proposals between management and the players’ union on the key issue of a payroll tax--the latest offered by the union during a bargaining session in Tampa, Fla.
Specifics were not revealed, but management sources said they would probably respond next week. Each side has made two proposals since Nov. 15, each accepting portions of the other’s concepts but still separated on tax rates and the threshold at which a tax would kick in.
