“Wonders of California” is the topic of this year’s essay contest sponsored by the Native Daughters of the Golden West.
The contest is open to students in grades four through eight in private and public schools in Ventura County.
The essay may cover geographical, historical or cultural aspects of California and may include related family history.
Each grade level will be judged separately, and every first-place essay will be submitted to the state contest.
Essays must be written by the student and be 250 to 500 words long. The author’s name must be placed on the back of the essay, with no identification visible on the front.
