For the second year in a row, the Tustin City Council has agreed to contribute $3,000 to Tustin High School’s graduation night celebration.
The school’s Grad Nite committee had requested $4,000, but officials said they did not want the city’s contribution to escalate. However, at the suggestion of Mayor Jim Potts, Councilman Michael J. Doyle agreed to offer his restaurant as the location for a fund-raiser.
City officials said the yearly celebration greatly reduces the likelihood that seniors will drink and drive.
“This is a great event,” Potts said. “It keeps the kids there and holds them there.”
