Colleges / Campus scene : Boater Gives Yacht to Marine Program

Marine science students at Orange Coast College will be able to study the subject firsthand, thanks to a donation from a local boater.
Paul Ginder of Huntington Beach gave a 42-foot yacht to OCC for students to use in research projects and day trips in local waters.
The Seaward “fits the college’s needs perfectly,” said Brad Avery, director of OCC’s marine programs. “We’ve been looking for a solid boat for local day trips. Seaward has plenty of deck space for students to do their research.”
Avery added that the school is also seeking a larger boat on which students could take extended trips along the Southern California coast.
