The Broadway store at the plaza will begin to operate as a Macy’s store after the ceremony. The remaining 47 stores in the Broadway chain--including the 25 locations in Southern California--will be converted to Macy’s by May 31. New York-based R.H. Macy & Co. and Southern California’s Bullock’s chain are owned by Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores. Federated will also begin to change its Bullock’s stores into Macy’s on April 29.
