No. 1 Chapman Sweeps Out Cal Lutheran

No. 1-ranked Chapman rallied in the sixth inning to score three runs and defeat Cal Lutheran, 3-2, for a sweep of their softball doubleheader Tuesday at Hart Park.
Chapman’s sixth-inning rally in the second game of the doubleheader started when Jessamine Maiben hit a bases-loaded single to drive in two runs. Teammate Lisa Cancilla followed with a single that drove in the Panthers’ third run.
Chapman (32-7), No. 1 in the nation in NCAA Division III, won the first game, 6-1, when Cancilla hit a two-run single to spark a five-run third inning.
Cal Lutheran fell to 30-3.
In nonconference baseball:
Fresno State 6, Long Beach 4--Fresno State, ranked sixth in the nation, scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie and overtake No. 4 Long Beach State (30-20) for the upset. Fresno State is 32-22.
In the Big West Championships golf tournament at Fort Ord:
UNLV wins--Nevada Las Vegas won the team title, finishing the 54-hole tournament at 871, 21 strokes ahead of second-place San Jose State. San Jose’s Arron Oberholzer shot a final-round three-under 69 to win medalist honors.
UC Irvine finished eighth and its highest finisher was Shawn Morley, who finished 23rd. Long Beach State finished ninth, led by Stephen Yanagisawa, who was 22nd.
