* Many of the 1,200-plus members of the Greater Los Angeles Hotel / Motel Assn. (the vast majority of whom are Asian) have been falsely accused of “dealing with prostitutes and drug dealers,” humiliated and had their constitutionally guaranteed civil rights violated.
I want to commend The Times for finally presenting an unbiased, neutral point of view on this subject (“Motel Owners Protest Nuisance Label,” April 14). Cmdr. Tim McBride’s outrageous statements--attributing guilt to all motel owners--are typical of the mentality of the LAPD and city officials who are making legitimate motel owners the scapegoats for the city’s own inability to control the crime which is rampant all over Los Angeles, including--as your paper correctly pointed out--outside City Hall’s own front doorsteps!
